It's been a few months. How did the new chips work out for The stick I made didn’t work at all unfortunately. I suspect I need to use different memory chips. Looks like a ATMEL AT49F002NT-90PC (https://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pd … 002NT-90PC.html) would be compatible it it’s more expensive and harder to source.

Ok figured out the problem. Windows desktop was set to 32bit mode so Quake 2 was trying to get the Riva128ZX into 32bit mode when initializing. Have a look at Jaton Voodoo 2 - 12MB not working [REPAIRED]. It's a repair for a Voodoo 2 but similar issues. You can see what is involved in getting it going. A microscope and soldering iron is needed.
