As consistency is blown to mars when DOSBox reaches midnight and no such complaint has hit the forum AFAIK it can't be that important. But since it doesn't work anyway... forget it 😀

Set cycles to a value you don't reach 100% cpu or single core usage with.

The lame dosbox can use only one core for the major workload. And yes, there are strong reasons why that is so. If there is stuttering, most likely your fixed cycles are too high so decrease them. About the other problem, try other output= settings.

The error message "MSCDEX: Failure: Path not valid." is misleading as it is almost impossible that the file is missing or the path is wrong when it is printed. imgmount checks if the file exists *before* reaching that point and prints a different error. Only if some process quickly deletes the file …

Well I only have this Aztech clone. Uses the same amplifier chip (the noise of this card can be reduced quite a bit by adding a metal shield at the back side). It would be very unusual if the signal did not go directly into the potentiometer. Have you measured which of the pins go to the output …

Better idea - the signal is at the volume potentiometer. You should get something similar to line out at the two yellow circles. You could remove the jumpers for speaker out and solder two wires from them to the yellow points.

You want a line out instead of a speaker out? You'll have to solder - put the card on a scanner (both sides) and maybe I can tell you where.

The problem is that the modem only checks for a new byte every millisecond. I don't remember right now but latest SVN might have a change there.

There's a flaw in your calculation: 115200 baud doesn't mean 115200 bits per second. The start- and stopbits also count in there, so with 1 startbit, 1 stopbit and no parity (total 10 bits) you get 11520 bytes per second maximum raw serial connection speed.

The modem emulation is flagged for rewrite (as other serial port units). Try the nullmodem too, it has some special settings for BBS purposes and might perform better.
