Re: Martian Memorandum Freezing Up

DOSBox has partial support for digitized sound played through the PC speaker: - Axe of Rage intro music works - Wizardry 7 sounds work, albeit with popping - Silpheed speech at the beginning of the game doesn't work There are probably better examples that I can't think of at the moment.

Re: Help with X-Com TFTD on XP

It's best to install from inside of DOSBox. If you don't then you're going to have to edit config files to tell the game where to find the CD and installation directory while running inside of DOSBox (unless you mount c c:\ and mount f f:\ -t cdrom so that the same settings and paths will apply to …

Re: Help with X-Com TFTD on XP

You don't have to install all the bells and whistles - just the ones you need. The only other tool I've used recently …

Re: DOSBOX Speed on Mac

You'll need to edit the DOSBox config file (don't know what or where it is on Mac) to set output=overlay. I agree that SCUMMVM is worth checking out. I've used recent versions to play Full Throttle and it does a pretty good job now. I reported a few minor bugs a while back with FT in SCUMMVM that …

Re: The KX Project

Their competitors have not "died out". They were either bought out (Ensoniq) or muscled out (Aureal) by Creative. On-board codecs aren't as bad as they were a couple years ago. In addition, Creative hasn't really added many new features to their cards in that time. People are starting to figure this …
