Re: Automatic Mounting?

Be sure to post the exact error messages you get. I've found a few issues with what MiniMax said that are probably confusing you: - The file should be a .bat file - You'll need to make sure that the CD command is changing to the directory (folder) your game is in - only you know what that is since …

Re: King Quest 8

It really looks to me like this is a Windows-only game: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/kings-quest-mask-of-eternity With the possible exception of Windows 3.1 or lower, you can't run Windows games in DOSBox. It's possible that you might be able to run the game natively in Windows - have you …

Re: King Quest 8

You need to mount the CD-ROM from within DOSBox first, then change to the mounted virtual drive letter and THEN run the setup program. Isn't KQ8 a Windows-only game though?

Re: Sword of the Samurai

How are you trying to run it? We need to know exactly what you're doing before we can do more than guess what you might be doing wrong. If you are installing from floppies or CD-ROM, you should open DOSBox first and mount both your virtual C: drive and the drive containing the install files. Then, …

Oh, I also ordered one of these: http://www.zippy.com/K_product_detail.asp?lv_rfnbr=2&pk_rfnbr=159&pck_rfnbr=2&pk_code=WK-720 Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow, but the crackheads at UPS never scanned the package after it left Georgia, so I have no idea where the hell it is. I find it hard to …

Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnyyyyyyyyways, getting back to the original topic: I finally got around to opening my 21" monitor. Turns out they encased everything in a sturdy aluminum (or steel?) RF/protective shield, which is cool because I always get a little paranoid when it comes to making adjustments to …

Re: The Elder Scrolls: Arena in DOS-box 0.63

I'm using a recent CVS that I built myself. I was able to play it for a good half-hour at least with no problems, except that it froze once when I set the cycles too high (I have to use dynamic core and run the cycles up pretty high to get a smooth framerate with the in-game detail slider set higher …

Re: Kiloblaster

It's a good thought, but there are probably almost as many detection methods used by games as there are games out there... It would be interesting (and useful for multiple situations) for someone to write a program that tries to detect cards by multiple methods to see if some are failing and others …

Not trying the funny stuff alien tresspassers, superior Veloxi the most powerful. I've never heard of this "Millennia" game, but it might help to know what the exact error messages are that you're seeing.

Re: The Elder Scrolls: Arena in DOS-box 0.63

I noticed that the CD version I have claims that it is version 1.07, but comes with a 1.05 readme. I wonder if it has the 1.06 fixes or not? I've never played the CD-ROM version, so it would be nice I guess to get DOSBox working with it both to see what I've missed and to see DOSBox improved.

Re: Kiloblaster

A lot of poorly designed games will try to detect the sound card by sending some data to it and then waiting for a response, and on faster computers (or emulators running at higher cycle counts) a game will sometimes give up waiting before the sound card gets around to sending data back. I remember …

Re: The Elder Scrolls: Arena in DOS-box 0.63

I only tried a few things, but can't seem to get it working with a recent CVS build either. I tried using various fancy CD-ROM mounting options, and I can see that the CD-ROM gets mounted properly, but the game sits at a black screen when I run it. I'm not sure what the big deal is though, since you …
