Re: Searching for a CRT monitor

CRT monitors just have a look that you can't get on a TFT. I agree that it's not wise to spend hundreds on one but they're still worth it for the right price. Modern solutions aren't going anywhere so he can always switch over in the future. I love my OSCC btw, great little device and worth every …

Formula 1 97 - redefining pad controls

Does anyone know how to configure a control pad with this game? You can redefine the keyboard controls but I can't find any option for control pads. I remember doing this in the previous year's F1 game which was also by Bizzare Creations but I'm coming up with nothing for this one. I'm using a PS2 …

Re: Searching for a CRT monitor

120hz is nice but 85hz will be fine imo. It's only at 60hz and to a lesser extent 70hz that using them can become uncomfortable, at least for me. The only downside is the 60hz at 640x480 for the occasional game that only supports that resolution, but if you can get it for a tenner I'd still give it …

Re: Searching for a CRT monitor

What sort of shops? I haven't seen a CRT in places like Cash Converters or any charity shops in years. Recycling places are not keen on seeing CRTs anymore as the amount of lead in the glass makes them quite costly to recycle - they may also be become relatively rare to see at recycling centers now …

Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
Since we're in October I'm malking my way through the first Resident Evil. I just killed the plant with my shotgun, forgetting that the game had just given me some flame rounds for the bazooker. Still, it went down quick enough. Now i'm playing a bit of inventory tetris and need to get back to a …

Re: Searching for a CRT monitor

Repair it or find someone that can repair it for you I guess. The good stuff's too expensive to just chuck out and replace these days. Especially if it's something like a BVM or PVM. 3 Years sounds a little short though. I've been using my Dell Trinitron monitor and Sony Trinitron TV for a decade …

Re: Searching for a CRT monitor

Considering anything with the word trinitron in it seams to bring a high price I don't think many people would pay for it anymore. I never had a trinitron myself but i see a lot of Sony Tv's advertised as trinitrons aswell...dno if that means they are just as good as trinitron monitors or not :S …

Re: Searching for a CRT monitor

You can't go wrong with either really but I'd be tempted by the Phillips just because it's a larger screen. Spec wise they both seem fairly similar with dot pitch and refresh rates. The Viewsonic will complement your PC better if that's also biege. I'm jealous of the V5 btw, was that a local find or …

Re: Searching for a CRT monitor

It's not always easy for sure. Wanted ads are another option, they'll be people around you with this stuff collecting dust in cupboards and stuff. Seeing someone wanting to take it off their hands might give them the prod they need.
