Re: DispHost Results

There are 2 icons down on the task bar representing the nics, but they both have red X's, showing they aren't in use. I would love to get rid of these icons when not in use, as they take up real estate on the task bar, but have not figured out how. This means that either they are unavailable but …

Originally posted by Col.J.P. I'm a 43 years old clinical psychologist without much time for all this, but I manage to do it. Hm, should a clinical psychologist be playing violent video games? Haven't you read the research on this stuff, man? :D OR - are you DOING research when playing the games? : …

Re: Re: Movie or not movie?

Ah...so it's either "movie sound" or "movie sound" that's the problem. Hrmm... NichtPick: I realize you are picking on a weird American English turn of phrase that rarely sees itself printed. But here's what he's saying: Originally posted by Unregistered I'm having trouble with movie sound in Tomb …

Re: Unfinished business and Glidos

[Edit] Since you've got an Athlon, I'm not sure about the MMX option on this CPU. Someone will enlighten me, I'm sure. Not sure what you mean. The original AMD Athlons have support for Intel's MMX and AMD's own 3DNow!, as well as what AMD terms Enhanced MMX and Enhanced 3DNow! which were new …

Re: Discworld2 & XP

el_Pusher: Instead of your approach, could you try this approach here: http://www.vogons.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=11974#post11974 Explanation: http://www.vogons.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=12003#post12003 At least steps 1,2, and 3. [EDIT] AHa. Actually, the HOTU version seems to use Rob's hack. …

Re: VESA isn't only video problem under XP

Weird thought: maybe it is refresh related? Monkey with your driver for your monitor, fool with refresh settings, play with EntechTaiwan's PowerStrip, etc, etc. Actually, PowerStrip's support forums is a good place to ask for help on this. Or maybe AnandTech or something.

Re: Mouse Compatibility

Condensing instructions on VOGONS (thanks to vladr and Nicht): Try searching your system for "GIVEIO.SYS", or "TOTALIO.SYS", or "WINIO.SYS" files, and for any file that might have the string "Ke386" within it. Search your HDD for *.sys files that contain the string Ke386 (make sure hidden and system …

Re: M1 Tank Platoon

Hi This is for Jeff, regarding his May 10 M1 TP2 posts. I have M1 TP2 too, and hoping you can help. Which Glide version are you using, and where did you install it? If you can help, thanks BJ See my first post in this thread. He's probably using the latest version of OpenGlide, but I am not sure. …

Re: Discworld2 & XP

You need to place a VBEPLUS statement inside the DW2.BAT file. This will call VBEPLUS a very very nice VESA replacement... http://unirefresh.demonews.com This is the address. It if doesn't work I can send VBEPLUS + another nifty vesa util to you. It weights just 10KB Here... And this works in …

Re: You guys are so polite!!

Hmm, funny, no response since I pointed out the discrepancy in TLD... nothing more from that kid (or "kid"), either. Yah, that was me (second post, not first). Forgot to log in. Didn't know what to say in reply, either, since I am not in Brasil (currently, nor ever). o_O Weird, hmmm... I will have …

Zeckensack's Glide Wrapper

RadeonGlide is dead. Long live Zeckensack's Glide Wrapper. Re: VGATEST.EXE

This is the only useful mode for the three PCs I have tested with VGATEST.EXE, a Matrox G450 PCI with XP(SP1), an NVidia GeForce 4 MX440 with XP(SP1) and an old Trident S3-864 1MB with NT4(SP6a). In the DOS boxes many of the other VGATEST.EXE command-line options result in no action, but starting …

Re: patch for WinXP/2000 monitor issues

They key words being "looks like". Do they actually work? Need real-world examples... Well, VGATEST displays color bars and stuff. It's not animated, though, so you cannot tell if scrolling is all messed up. Awaiting your testing with VGATEST. VBETEST reads from the BIOS and cannot be trusted. ;)

Re: Magic: The Gathering

What about Moslo Deluxe and Moslo 4BIZ? I've heard that 4BIZ especially helps Windows software. You could even throttle the whole Windows (9x) OS, if you so desired. More on http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/ I'm expecting one of VOGONS' readers one day to do extensive testing with 4BIZ. One of these days, …
