the file name in program folder is "DQMLIB.dll" and i am sure there is no missing file because this program run fine under windows 9x and xp. You shouldn't necessarily expect it to run in DOSBox unless you know if it runs fine in DOS! Try downloading CWSDPMI from http://homer.rice.edu/~sandmann/ …

actually there is a file with name "DQMLIB.dll". So does the debug message refer to DQMLIB.map, or DQMLIB.dll? Because if there's no file named DQMLIB.map, that suggests you need to find it. in addition it seem this program developed under borland C++. it use rtm.exe and dpmi16bi.ovl I tried …

Are you sure this is a DOSBox problem? Do you know whether the program behaves the same way under real DOS? Maybe the cursor isn't actually supposed to show if anything is being typed, so an observer would be unable to see the length of the password as it is typed in. Also, http://www.vogons.org/ …

I tried using a 512MB DIMM in a 440BX motherboard once, and it wouldn't boot at all. There seems to be a lot of weird controversy as to how far the RAM limitations of Windows 98 can be pushed. If the PC is working fine and you do not plan on installing a hard drive larger than 128 GB, there is indeed no reason to update the BIOS. Why tempt fate?

Why don't you just order a CF-to-IDE adapter? It will probably cause you less trouble than some increasingly-ancient mechanical drive. You'll probably get bored with Linux pretty fast anyway. 😉

A bit of searching turns up some threads here and here that suggest renaming wolf4sdl.exe to dosbox.exe.
