Yeh I'd assume this would be possible, install a custom interrupt handler on the illegal opcode exception, detect the opcode and run it in software. If they'd use lot's of pentium instructions afterwards it would be dog slow though 😀

Pretty similar to my main old pc. Horizontal motherboards make for easier and more stable insertion of long cards.

Well yeah MCGA would just use static character roms so tools changing fonts will look messed up. But otherwise it seems to run fine.

I'm always more impressed with the graphics they managed to get out of the atari in some games than the actual gameplay considering the limitations of the hardware. Some of the recent atari demos were quite amazing as well especially when seeing them on the big screen 😀

You really have to have had an atari as a kid to truly like those games I guess. Tried a few in emulators and it just doesn't seem worth the time.

FreeDOS seems quite nice in freeing up low memory with xms and HMA enabled , don't see why you wouldn't use it.

I recall having used borland pascal 7 in dosbox though, although that's ussually for very small test programs.

We might just have some sdl startup and shutdown code that fits in 4k in dosbox. Guess the rest of the source isn't needed anymore.

Just tried it on my i5 ivy and it ends up exactly at 70fps, seems to be vsynced in some way, maybe try the integrated videocard instead of the nvidia. Doom running in dosbox manages 210 fps or something
