Re: Non-Steam/GOG/DOSBox old games that don't run on XP?

in Windows
Not running under a VM is also a thing to consider. There are GPU compatibility issues and I doubt the emulated GPU isn't subject to any of them. There's also sound compatibility issues to think of under VMs (A3D, EAX?)... I don't particularly like the VM approach since I've never seen it done …

I could do without the amateur snark (oh yes, please play them ALL!) and trite, obvious philosophy lessons. Thanks to the ones pointing me in the right direction. Anyways I think I've already found an example with these QuickTime games like Traitors Gate, they have audio distortion on OSes above 98 …

Are you expecting someone here to have tried every video game in existence? The list you're looking for does not exist. Assuming you don't care about say, Zombie Wars, what purpose does it serve you to know wither it runs in XP or not? Planning for 100% compatibility is pointless, it's pretty much …

Re: Emulating EAX on any onboard sound hardware?

What are the options for A3D on a new computer? A3D-Live restores surround for Outlaws, but from what I gather there are a few other options, but I have no clue which of them work on a Win10 64-bit computer. Newest version of ALchemy seems to have some severe audio issues on Heretic II, so I had to …

This about sums it up .... "This video mirrors my personal opinions and tastes, therefore is objectively correct." Please. When did this forum become more about shitting on the new than celebrating the old?? Have we not got better things to focus our energy on? Haven't seen the video, just going to …

Once barracuda415 fixes the subpixel vertex accuracy problem then it'll run much better on newer hardware than anything period accurate. Well, I don't think I can fix that one. I've spend many hours in the debugger trying to find out where exactly the vertices are snapped to a 320x240 grid, but …

@ZellSF are you saying the game works for you on Windows7 64bit? if thats the case, then my CD is prob not busted. im very interested in knowing exactly what OS your using. Win10 64bit. Only difference to Win7 should be rendering related (not CDDA playback related, not copy protection related). As …

Works out of the box here. Make sure you got a original retail disc (or at the very least a good clone image), make sure it's inserted into your first CD drive letter.

Re: Issues with ogg-winmm wrapper

in Windows
Really can't tell you what to do, I can't test anything since I don't have the game and it's fairly difficult to find. Suggestions though: 1: Make sure you renamed wav-winmm.dll to just winmm.dll 2: try this modification to ogg-winmm 3: Try to detail why you couldn't get _inmm working, because that …

Re: Compiling ogg-winmm error

in Windows
You need libvorbisfile-3.dll in the build directory. not sure why you're getting so many warnings, but it should compile if you have that library file. You probably should have it from compiling libvorbis (I didn't bother and just got it from another ogg-winmm build). You should look at the forks of …

Sorry, should I have bumped one of the older threads? None of those threads mention Windows 10, and I have tried their methods, but have not seen any success from them - I probably should have mentioned that in the OP There's no Win10 specific CDDA problems I've heard of yet. Which of the things in …

http://www.vogons.org/search.php Lots of things you can try and report back on. At least two topics of information I'm not retyping all of. My best guess as to what changed in the Windows upgrade was just the CD drive letter, but seeing as you done reinstalls after that you might've messed something …

1: Windows does let you do this... Have you even tried selecting a dialog window and hitting ctrl-c then pasting it somewhere? No, that just creates a graphical image, not text. It definitely does not: [Window Title] Confirm Save As [Content] New Bitmap Image.bmp already exists. Do you want to …
