Re: Problematic Windows games list

The second problem was new to me. Whenever the game tried to play a new midi file, it would freeze for a few seconds. This got infuriating fast. Apparently, it's a known issue with playing midi files through MCI on systems newer than XP, documented here: http://www.virtualdub.org/blog/pivot/entry. …

What sort of visual glitches? Dege might be interested. Black lines glitch in and out on the asphalt textures. That's interesting, I don't get those. 1) Are you using the "XP patch" linked earlier? 2) Which GPU do you have and which driver version? Each PC can behave differently depending on all …

You can't get disc DRM working on windows 10. The functionality was intentionally removed, not just disabled. It was removed, yes, but it's possible to restore it. How do you restore it? https://github.com/ericwj/PsSecDrv https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/games_windows_10/secdrvsys- …

Everything that used secure disc or light disc DRM requires a no cd crack in windows 10. This includes most games released between 2002-2006. This is true even if you have the original media and an optical drive. Finding a list of "good" no CD cracks is its own challenge. I've never heard of either …

Fighting Force needs: XP patch ( here ) dgVoodoo Winplay DLL patch ( here ) DxWnd (only for CDDA playback, needs to be a very recent version) I would definitely call it a problematic game, but it should be playable now (thanks to DxWnd's recent CDDA improvements). Thanks for the help! DgVoodoo …

So I was a bit bored and decided to look at the games I wanted to play myself that I found problematic. They're both 2D games, and games that would be playable under emulation/virtualization, but I wanted to run them natively and have given up on that in the past. First was Bungaru WA , an old …

- Fire Fight by Chaos Works Fire Fight didn't seem like particularly a problem case to me, nocd crack+dgVoodoo. I didn't wait to see if CDDA had looping issues (it probably does), but since Windows manages to play CDDA natively I'm guessing both _inmm and DxWnd wrappers would work I seem to recall …

It's still creating another documentation project without properly addressing any of the flaws with current ones. As HunterZ notes we do not have control over other sources to fix them. If you think that this thread is a bad idea why bother posting in it? Just because I don't think this works as a …

There is value in multiple sources. One may have information that the other does not. This forum with the size of its membership would probably provide for more feedback than that on a Wiki; what works for some, what does not, what works, but with caveats, etc. A good example would be wrappers. …

Re: Suitable streaming platform

I consider 1440p minimum for good quality on Youtube, 720 would be awful. Obviously, native resolution would be adequate if the client player knew how to scale it, but that isn't happening (though it might be possible if you give up embedding).

IMO a game that has several solutions isn't problematic. Perhaps, but for the purposes of this list it would be nice to list some of these solutions. This list should not merely list games with issues on modern Windows. A list with solutions included becomes a useful reference. Exactly. The goal is …

Midnight Outlaw Six Hours To Sun Up

I think basically no one cares about this game and I don't either, but it has problems with reflections/textures(?), might be worth investigating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfWPdqywjFw The "correct" reference here is WineD3D, which is only way to get this game running on Nvidia cards.

Re: Problematic Windows games list

A lot of unofficial game patches for Win9x games to run on WinXP-Win7 x64 no longer work for Windows 10 because Microsoft got rid of legacy DirectX3-7 support in Windows 10. Hence, we are now flooded with all sorts of DirectX wrappers into modern graphics APIs D3D11/12, OpenGL, Vulkan etc. There's …

Re: Problematic Windows games list

Seems to work fine with DXWrapper's Dd7to9 and DxWnd. DXGL sort of works (have to alt-tab to view movies). DxWnd doesn't work with full-screen in my experience. You're not supposed to use it in fullscreen. Set it to scale the window to desktop and check "Keep aspect ratio" and "Hide desktop …
