Re: Tomb Raider 3dfx demo

To be honest I don't know. The PCI error is strange. A few things to try. * If you are not already doing so, then type DOSDRV before the other commands you are using. * Alternatively, try running setup.exe and disable sound. * Try using a fullscreen command window and not using gldvesa; just type " …

Re: Sources changed

Who's Mr sneaky then? Who's gone and fixed the Extreme Assault bug and not told anybody? :D I don't know if it was intentional but the black squares are now back to flickering flames. Also the clipping is fine. I can't see any problems in any games now, except its a bit too fast (my computer gets …

Re: Bilinearly interpolating blood

every few minutes sprites (like life leech alt-fire) go into the floor for a few seconds, its annoying but I dont think its worth fixing and it might just be my graphics card Dont bother fixing this you have worked hard enough on blood already Sounds like it isn't Blood specific though. If it …

Re: TR1 running too slow

This is very intereting. It used to be the case that turning on anti aliasing in the game would drop the framerate. That was because TR does antialiasing by drawing antialiased lines around objects; Glidos didn't handle the Glide command, and displayed the commands name many times per second in the …

Re: Sources changed

I've now worked through all the games, and I've found only one problem in all the testing: that is the one in Extreme Assault that I mentioned before. So in all the optimisation you've been doing, I think that's the only bug introduced. There's also a problem in Blood, but it is just a change from …

Re: Tomb Raider 3dfx demo

I've never seen the "No PCI bus detected" message. Looks ominous. Presumably you have the Glidos server running before issuing these commands? (Not that failure to do so would cause that error message). What OS are you using?

Re: TR1 running too slow

Well, I'm very glad that worked... but the mipmapping setting doesn't do anything when TR is running under Glidos. Its a good job Kaminari is here because, since I know that there is absolutely no way changing the mipmapping setting could possibly help, I would never have suggested it. :D This isn't …

Re: TR1 running too slow

How slow is slow? Press F2 while playing TR and look at the FPS reading in the top right. If you are getting really really slow one frame per second performance then you probably still haven't got OpenGL support. A system built to cut costs might not have much in the way of hardware 3D support. The …

Re: Bilinearly interpolating blood

I don't know whether it's related to the problem you described or not, but I've noticed a very similar effect in TR. Though it's very slight and not really disturbing. Different reason, and a much smaller effect than was in Blood before I corrected the texture coords. In TR the slight shimmering is …

Re: Bilinearly interpolating blood

I just compared v007b4, v007b5 and v008a2, the cobweb thing only happens on v007b5, v007b4 has slightly less framerate but not significenty enough to be unplayable. Useful thanks Paul can u compare sources of the old v007 and v007b4, v007 doesnt look like its windowed with the white lines at the …

Re: Bilinearly interpolating blood

Here's one more version. The stiching together of the triangles was working well for the walls but not so good for the floors and ceilings. Now that's fixed. Just compared Glidos with software mode at 1024x768. I think it looks better, but not enough to make a difference to the feel of the game. I …

Re: Bilinearly interpolating blood

Hrmm. As hard as Paul has worked on this, I still prefer running Blood in it's normal mode at 1024x768. The 3dfx version enhancement is pretty minimal and the work involved is a bit much. Also, there's still the standard NT issues to overcome. Yeh, a lot of the time you are viewing the textures …

Re: Sources changed

hahaha, I mean the log file, yes... :) Ah okay I'll post it here Well, I think I did the cvs changes in the hard way, I removed the old files and included the new ones, so if you want to do that comment in the 3dfx file, go ahead, I don't know what to do... :P What you did is right as far as I know …

Re: Sources changed

Hummm, I did not looked at Extreme Assault yet, that is quite strange, but I did some changes to some areas that maybe had an impact on blending. Can you post (or send to me) your OpenGLid.ini file, so I can see all extensions that are supported (I included some new extensions). I always delete the …
