Re: What's wrong with the boards?

No really. I hadn't given up on the guy. And he wasn't abusive or anything. Just held what seemed to most of us a strange point of view. Hope we haven't barred him for not agreeing with us. I've come across people like that who have turned out to be really okay, and good allies.

Re: Darn! Still got probs....

The frame rate problem shouldn't happen if you set IgnorePaletteChange to 1. If you have it at 0, you will probably run your computer out of virtual memory when you get hit. Delete Glide2x.dll and OpenGLid.ini. Then grab the latest verions off the Glidos site, just to be sure. It really sounds like …

Re: Freeware?

I've just reopenned this thread so I can just make one last comment, and I wont close it again for a while because I don't want to force this as the last word (hope that's okay guys). I'm quite happy for people to criticise Glidos, especially for its real shortcomings, like the difficulty in …

Re: Freeware?

Originally I decided to charge for Glidos having some dream that it, and maybe other projects, would fund themselves, and I'd be able to work on them during the day rather than through the night. But it didn't work out. Financially, its a waste of time my charging for Glidos. Now I charge for it …

Re: RB3D continued

Pretty sure this is a bug in RB. It sounds like RB's internal database, holding which textures it has sent to the card, gets corrupted. As far as I know, 3dfx didn't suddenly get things wrong when they brough out voodoo2; they just started to produce cards with more than 2MB of texture memory which …

US185Damiani wrote: I downloaded and saved the files for future use, and Have subsequently paid for a copy of glidos thank you very much for ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK. Your support is much appreciated. When you do need the files, remember to check back for the latest version; I have one more change to …

Re: Sentinel Returns

"Fullscreen doesn't work"? Are you using the files from the RB page or Glidos? My copy is just a Windows program, so I'm just using the RB version of OpenGlide. I can't see a fullscreen setting anywhere. I don't have the speed problem either. Wonder what that is? Nor do I have the CD problem; but …

Re: Sentinel Returns

Ah texture caching. That's my biggest change to OpenGlide. Its near perfect now, and will be when I get the paletted texture stuff done. That's the one bit I don't need help with. :) It was Redgaurd that forced me to sort that out; it used to crash OpenGlide. Interestingly Redguard runs evoodoo out …

Re: Sentinel Returns

The Red Baron stuff has forced me to make some changes that really wanted doing anyway, so its not such a bad thing. Not sure where along the line Sentinel started working. I tried it before and there were lots of texture issues. Now it seems perfect (except sometimes the selection screen displays …

RB3D continued

OpenGL has something called the "shared texture palette" extension. I'm just downloading the spec now. It should allow all this paletted stuff to be done properly without any frame rate hit. It may even be easy to do.

Re: RB3D works 99%

This thread is getting very large, and is in danger of collapsing under its own weight; so we are going to close it soon. I'm going to start up a new thread called "RB3D continued". If you want to get emails when messages are posted to that thread, then you need to go to it as you would to read the …

Re: Darn! Still got probs....

Could you also describe those squares as brightened and washed out areas. If so, its because you have Sun Glare turned on. Can't handle SunGlare properly yet. On odd occasions getting hit will cause reddened squares for the same reason.

Re: RB3D works 99%

I'm getting confused. I thought you said there were large files containing lists of palettes used for sun glare and the like. I guess I misunderstood: it does make more sense for the game itself to calculate new palettes on the fly, brightening ones specified in the models. The bad news is that this …

Re: RB3D works 99%

Firstly: I've just uploaded a new version that deals with most of the transparency problems, I believe. Its still a hack but not such a bad one. Thanks for all this info. All new to me and interesting. Moreover it leads me ot believe that careful control of the palettes may give a final solution. …

Re: Many many thanks..

Thanks for your support. It is nice for me to know I've helped you. BTW, you can try the wrapper on a Voodoo card, so long as you have OpenGL support (can you play Quake, for instance?) It would be an interesting comparisen.
