Re: other DOS Glide games

I'm always interested in new games. As Stiletto mentiones, we are trying to keep a list here; if you have time to help update it that would be great. The "new" facility isn't locked; its unimplemented, simply because I haven't had time. Also, Glidos isn't based on OpenGlide. It is an interface …

Re: Spinning logo always there

The black screen is at the FMV stage and Glidos is not involved. It is likely to be an audio problem, although it is difficult to explain how you can have an audio problem if using VDMSound. It may be that the VDMSound hint dialog box is popping up behind another window. If so, you need to disable …

Re: CD audio command routing

This Redbook support that you are thinking might go into VDMSound, wouldn't necessarily have to map the DOS side Redbook commands to Windows CD playing commands. It could just as easily map them to WAV playing commands. In fact, trivially, because Windows gives WAV and CD a common API. So you *could …

Re: Battlecrusier 3000ad

Hey magic! I'll have a look when I get a chance. If its the whole game playing slow rather than the frame rate being bad, then adding ControlJudderFix: 1 to the glidos.ini script for that game can help. The Glidos mouse driver is really very very simple, and is quite likely to work only with Descent …

Re: Save Game problems...

Win98? Yeh, then it isn't the administrator business. One thing that I've run into before: if you copy your save games onto a CD and then back off onto your harddrive then they are Read-only and you cant save over them. Just a thought. There is something on Stella's site somewhere. I'll try to find …

Re: Save Game problems...

I've heard of a save game problem with TR1, but I've never seem it myself. Apparently there are some hints as to how to avoid the problem on stella's site. http://tombraiders.net My guess is that it might be something to do with file access rights. Try using an administrator account. That's just a …

Re: So... (Extreme Assault)

Yeh, nice piccies. Are you getting a useable frame rate? At the moment there are some fog commands that are being ignored. Sometime, I'll try to sort those out. It might make a big difference; certainly fog makes an enormous difference to Redguard. Eventually I might get the targetting working …

Re: Descent 2, pulling out my hair...

Redbook doesn't work for me either; I should have mention this in the installation instructrions to save you trying so hard to get it going. It is quite possible for the setup program to work and the game not to. I've had that happen before with another game. If you are using Windows NT/2000/XP then …

Re: So... (Extreme Assault)

It works okay here. If you just unzipped the file quickly, maybe you ended up with the Glide2x.ovl file in a subfolder of your Glidos folder. The replacement Glide2x.ovl must be in the top level of your Glidos folder. Also you must start the game with the "Start game" button.

Extreme Assault

in GliDOS Files
Administrator: The files that were in this first post of the thread are no longer needed since v1.18 of Glidos, and have been removed. This is a zip file containing an updated version of the file Glide2x.ovl. Use this as a replacement for the original with Glidos v1.17 to make Extreme Assault work. …

Re: So... (Extreme Assault)

It sort of works, provided you have grabbed a couple of updated files from the glidos smartgroup files area. The files are in a folder called "Extreme Assult". The frame rate isn't quite as good as in software mode, which is disappointing, but it does look very pretty and its playable. I had to hack …
