The reason why the game sounds shitty in dosbox without /s:internal switch is cause it uses mt32 as defalut and official dosbox doesn't emulate it. Thanks for making it clear you were using an image from the beginning... I finally managed to snag a CD hard copy of System Shock on eBay. C:\ mount d F:\ -t cdrom 😒 @Qbix: A regular ISO would work fine for the game, as it has no audio tracks.

Works for me with DOSBox 0.73. Try using a default config. If that doesn't help, please list all the commands you are using exactly as you type them.

Don't change folders with "CD INST", stay in the root of the CD and run "INST\INITIAL.EXE", just like the batch file does.
