Be interesting to see if anyone really knows anything on this, I suspect not to be honest. If it's a v1 especially, it may degrade your overall VGA experience if you are using pass thru. Even a v2 may degrade what you see above 1024x768. Apparently may make it a bit more blurry than without such …

have you checked the vm is set to boot from the vhd? sounds like it is still booting from the iso in which case it will just keep giving you this

That display is from a virtualbox window - see the menu at the top - Machine/View/Devices/Help. Looks to me like it should be safe - whatever you press with not affect your host OS. Bit confused by why you say you have reached the end of the install process - have you installed windows 98 and now …

GM is on the menus for some of the early games that caught my attention, along with gravis ultrasounds etc - DukeNukem3D, Heretic, Hexen, Warcraft. That's as much as I knew. I never noticed MT-32 on a game setup menu [or saw it on a games box] until fairly recently. Lemmings and Lost Vikings.

I came across someone once [on a forum, not ebay] who wanted payment for his time spent wrapping items up and going to the post office. That service added $25 to the price for 3 boxed games, on top of a generous amount for actual packaging materials and postage fees. Time is money!

I don't trust backwards compatibility of windows 7 (or 8 ) or modern hardware either now or in the future. That is with dx8.1 and earlier, or eax. That to me is the reason to run a windows 2000 box.
