Re: same

http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=jfduke3d - OpenGL support, multiplayer. Sound engine update planned. http://rancidmeat.com/project.php3?id=1 - No OpenGL. Original sound code updated with optional cubic interpolation, and a decent sounding reverb effect. (for places where it was activated, …

Re: better Sound Blaster support

Yes, I have seen that. I believe that is CT ADPCM, which is not ordinarily supported by SB in "hardware", per se, but through uploadable ASP/CSP code. Dosbox is probably a long way off from that, anyway. I only mentioned patents because the Mplayer and FFMpeg home pages morphed into "Fight the EU …

Re: better Sound Blaster support

Mostly reverse-engineering existing decompression code. Dosbox debugger rocks. Off-topic, no Duke Nukem 2 fun for me, unless I play with keyboard. For some reason, the game pauses itself (like I pressed P) every time I use the first button on either of my controllers. I guess I could find some way …

Re: better Sound Blaster support

Ah, okay. I'll see what I can do now that I remembered that editor at the last minute, heh. Surprising that nobody has leaked the old SDK in an obvious way... EDIT: Okay, here's a patch which changes the decompression to match what BLASTER Master is doing, and since it may access the data tables in …

Re: better Sound Blaster support

*bump from hell* Here's another game which definitely uses one of the 2/2.6/4 bit pack formats. I'll try logging not only DSP messages but full data streams as well. (or I can work out the data bank format, which should be easy since it doesn't appear to be compressed.) None of the existing methods …

Re: Constructor under WinXP

in DOS
i thought i'd add to this topic since a solution is now possible. The-underdogs.org host a CD-Rip version of Constructor that is compatible with DosBos without any swapping of files, but there is a sound issue and there is a lagginess issue. http://www.the-underdogs.org/downloadfile.php?file=games …

Re: Cool Feature Idea for the (distant) Future

List of recommended LAME compiles List of recommended LAME settings ... I'm trying to find good, solid reasons now. Hmm, a poll on whether --r3mix should be dropped. Two completely different VBR tuning models. One still progressing, the other rather dead. Roel Van den Berge has not been heard of on …

Re: Cool Feature Idea for the (distant) Future

LAME.exe --r3mix r3mix.net is dead, and I know several who think --r3mix should join it. For some reason, I care enough to point out that they recommend --alt-preset standard. I don't really care much about MP3 anyway, as my current lossy format of the hour is MusePack. I might start caring more if …

Re: Weekly update

It's not so much SMP aware as multi-threaded. A single threaded processing loop cannot benefit from SMP or SMP-like features such as HT. EDIT: Now, it would mean better multitasking... ie. the driver executes on one processor while the game and/or emulator execute on the other. That should not …

Re: Cool Feature Idea for the (distant) Future

Downloading full CD images with raw audio tracks. ...Okay, so I've only been doing this for the last 3-5 years. Before that, I lacked an internet connection, and I was downloading files to floppies at my school each week. Before that, at Kinko's at $6/hour. ISO+MP3 is just a minor peeve I guess. I …
