fighting is faster in pure dos on Phenom and 386 too. about 50% faster

it looks like using less cpu with max cycles during battle for me too, but i think the speed is ok (actually it is indeed slower than on my p166mmx). you can try the latest dosbox http://www.emucr.com/search/label/DOSBox it won't hang in intro is the intro speed ok? VR Soccer '96 3dfx patch I think it doesn't work with Actua Soccer like Whiplash patch doesn't work with Fatal Racing and vice versa.

I think you need latest S3 Trio64 drivers. also cputype=pentium_slow or use ykhwong dosbox build that has some paging patch, so it works with other cputypes. There are guides on vogons about win9x. BTW nothing wrong with your patch, the game doesn't work on real computer with more than 64mb too (with dos4gw and with dos32a) (unless it is limited of couse): Battlecruiser 3000AD 2.09 Freeware Exit to error: Illegal descriptor type 0 for int 31

I enclose what looks to be the win9x drivers that contain the latest glide2x.ovl that works in pure dos. Any later drivers have glide2x.ovl that works only in windows.
