It doesn't have to be internal. 1. It is only for a few games. 2. Black boarder should be ignored - so it is only for moments when a boarder different from black is being used. 3. What is the most demanding game for dosbox? I think it is "Comanche 3" and "Armored Fist 2" cause both games don't support 3dfx so a glide patch won't help them.

Try rate=22050 core=dynamic cycles=10000 cycleup=20 cycledown=20 and use ctrl-f11 ctrl-12 to speed up or down according to cpu usage.

The game has no gfx problems on my 386 with Trident/Cirrus/Tseng/Oak/Paradise svga/vga cards.
