Re: SSI doesn't like me playing LOL

OK. For Champions of Krynn, i went to the game directory (on your hard disk) and type in: SUBST A: . - This way you will assign the current directory as drive A: - The game now allow me to create characters, add them to party and even save and load games, but as soon as i press BEGING ADVENTURING, i …

Re: SSI doesn't like me playing LOL

OK. Are you sure your Menzoberranzan installation is correct? I have played (and finished) it under Windows XP. I think I used VDMSound, though, but it worked under DOSBox too (for me). Please, keep us posted on how it goes. PS - I think I have Champions of Krynn lying somewhere (not sure, though). …

Re: CDROM disk detection problems?

Jim, if you are running Windows XP, check the services list. Run services.msc and look if "extractable storage devices" (roughly translated from Spanish) is enabled and running. I am not totally sure if it will make a difference or not, but no hurt in trying.

Re: help for perestroika

in DOS
Do you mean that old russian game where you drove a frog? It had digitised pc speaker sounds (and voices) and used Borland's BGI libraries for graphics. Probably built using Turbo Pascal. I remember that it was a bitch to run outside real ms-dos, though. There is little chance that digitised …

Re: DOSbox Adlib sound regression?

ADLIB cards were one of the first ones featuring FM Synthesis to produce sound (mostly using OPL chips developed by Yamaha). When ADLIB came out, it used a Yamaha OPL-2 chip (which had just mono capabilities for FM music, I think). Later (and modern) cards like the ADLIB GOLD you mention (and newer …
