Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Dege, I've been trying out your test dgVoodoo. Unfortunately, to avoid missing textures, I still need to set Emulate W-buffer. I think you've fixed the swimming textures though, but it's hard to tell, as the test runs *extremely* slow, something like 1 frame every 10 seconds. Anyway, here's the log …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

I've been playing around with W-bufferering, and if I enable it, the swimming textures disappear, but I get a lot of missing textures. And I mean a lot! As a matter of fact, Lara herself is missing! So you see why I have to use the option Emulate W-buffering. Or is there a way to enable W-buffering …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

I don't know, sometimes I think I just should give up on Windows! I've tried degeVoodoo again, but this time on my clean(ish) test environment, using the SAME files as in my work environment. Well, what do you know, it works! Anyway, I've got it running with sound, and when I enable VESA support in …

Re: A glide wrapper for DOS programs

Yep, I got the swimming textures in TR1 as well, and you're right, I've got an ATI video card (9600 Pro). I also have to use Emulate W-buffer, otherwise it doesn't work. And the alpha-based colorkeying method as well, as I get missing (transparent?) textures otherwise (the passport textures are …

Re: Running TR/Glidos from HD??

Gambit37, I used to have three hacks, years ago, when I had a TR1-rip, no-cd hacks for 3dfx TR1, and 3dfx Unfinished Business, and a hack containing empty movie files. It was actually quite hard to find the empty movies back then, and I'm not sure if they're still around on the internet. I don't use …

Re: Problem with Tomb Raider

Paul, I'm assuming the new OpenGlide RC7 includes Markus' fixes, right? BTW, is there documentation available on OpenGlide, or OpenGlide.ini? Artie150 mentions EnableMMX=1. I didn't know this option even existed. Aldo Bleeker

Re: Problem with Tomb Raider

I've just tried running Markus' Glide2x.dll again, this time on a fresh new Windows XP, with .Net Framework 1.1 installed. Nothing was running, I even disabled the antivirus scanner. This partition is just a few weeks old, and is only used for testing purposes (I'm beta testing SP2 for Microsoft). …

Re: Problem with Tomb Raider

Thanks, Paul! I've tried your version, and this one works, I can start and play TR1 without crashing. I will try out the old and this new version, and see if I can spot any differences, but it seems that I can use EnableMipMaps=1 without flashing textures.

Re: Problem with Tomb Raider

Markus, Very interesting stuff! You sure sound like you know what you're doing, so I've tried out your Glide2x.dll, but when I start TR1, I get a white screen and an error message (nothing specific, just glide2x.dll has caused an error). Glidos then closes down with the message Read Failure. From …

Re: dgVoodoo isn't working for me

in DOS
So, XP works, apart from the slowdown when using VDMSound that is, but I understand Dege is working on this. That's why I had a good look at Windows 98 SE, this should work, dgVoodoo was written for it. Well, I don't know why not, but it doesn't, not on my computer that is. Actually, Tombraider …

Sounds great, Dege! I'll be sure to try out the new version. Just let us know where to download it! About the W-buffering issue on ATI-cards, a screen dump will be coming up here later this day. Aldo Bleeker

Re: dgVoodoo isn't working for me

in DOS
I'm not at my home computer at the moment, but when I am I'll try to disable basic VESA support, start windowed and switch to full screen with Alt+Enter. I think I've tried that, but I'm not 100% sure, so that might help. If not, I'll try SpeedSet. Aldo Bleeker

Re: dgVoodoo isn't working for me

in DOS
It's working with sound now! Somebody said in another message that he got TR1 working by including the command 'Set Path = C:\Windows' in Autoexec.bat, and that has done the trick. But whenever I solve one problem, another one seems to pops up... It's working, but way too slow. No soundcard feels …

Re: dgVoodoo isn't working for me

Yet more information. I've uninstalled VDMSound 2.04, and installed VDMSound 2.1.0. I also have a genuine ISA SB AWE 64, with default settings A220, I5, D1, H5. I've also set up the default settings for VDMSound in TR1, SB16, A220, I7, D1, H5. Aldo Bleeker

Re: dgVoodoo isn't working for me

in DOS
Hi Dege, No, there are no other Glide2x.dll's in the folder or the path, other than dgVoodoo's in the Windows folder. However, after some experimenting, I've been able to make dgVoodoo work by setting TR1 up with No Soundcard! I've also found out that I have to select Emulate W-buffering in …

dgVoodoo isn't working for me

in DOS
I'm trying to run Tombraider 1 under Windows XP SP 1 using dgVoodoo 1.20, but I'm not having much luck. Maybe I'm missing something? I've copied the dgVoodoo files to the Windows folder, and I've set up dgVoodoo with dgVoodooSetup. When I run dgVoodoo, I get a small window telling me I can now run …
