Well, I did it. I pulled the trigger. I got an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ "Barton" coming and now an ATI Radeon X700 Pro 256MB AGP card coming in. Here's crossing my fingers - hoping they both work.

I've been using my AMD 486 DX4 100 MHz (L1 write though version) as my main DOS PC for years and it runs Doom at 35 fps. If you got the Intel version, then you should see sightly better performance.

Which setup would you prefer for a good 1998 era build... Would have (2) Voodoo 2's in SLI along with a RIVA TNT AGP 1 - ASUS P2B Motherboard with a Pentium II 450 2. Super Socket 7 Motherboard (recommend one) with an AMD K6-2 400 processor

Odd? Why? AMD has never included GPUs in their CPUs, only in the APUs, and there never was any information of a change in that policy. Of course, sooner or later we'll see APUs with ryzen cores, but not a GPU in every processor ala Intel.
