It seems to me that a small company like AMD, whose profits aren't even comparable to Intels R&D, can't do anything to please everybody. No matter how good they deliver they'll always be shit to some people. This was the case in the early 2000's it is today and it will be in the future.

The only times AMD decisively won in performance post-P5 against Intel's best was Athlon Classic vs P3 Katmai, Palomino AXP vs Wilamette and A64 vs P4 era, and it wasn't until 2002 they finally got a chipset that doesn't suck.

386DX 40 MHz 😀 I prefer to keep away from AMD stuff for retro. From Pentium times they often positioned hardware as cheaper, so the higher chance to get lower quality.
