Looks like blatant rip-off, not the real engineering sample. AMD-X5 wasn't trademarketed.

That sucks 😉. Maybe, if you are lucky, they stopped adding that code in all later versions of the XT ? AMD chip recognition is a bit of a jungle unfortunately.

I would say it's only good for DOS and Win3x / Win NT351 If you want to run Win95 then get a AMD 5x86 -133mhz. And use 64mb ram and a CF card as a hard-drive.

I have to buy an AMD DX4(SV8B) and retest it against the 16kb version and the iDX4. I remember it being pretty underwhelming.

Hotflashing is the way to go, I always used an old 430TX board for this and flashed many many bios files that way. Now I have an eeprom flasher and it is much easier but hotflashingis not that hard. For my board to get an AMD 5x86-133 working correctly I used the bios file that is in ap4161sa.exe

You can also try 2X multi to actually get a 6X out. This way BIOS will show you have AMD K6-2/600 🤣 For BIOS display (and actual speed) it's only important what jumpers you set on the motherboard and not what it's written on the CPU.
