most of my 5x86 amd. overclock to 160 always, but 1 chip does it 50% of the time. Once I was using that chip and I was sure the motherboard is faulty until I realised it works fine with other 5x86 chips at 160 just not one. Also for more performance have you adjusted your memory timings in bios?

Actually, some AMD CPUs at that time period, the DX5-133 or Am5x86-P75, was only 3.45V, so in order to use it on a 5V line, the one way to use the CPU is a 3.45V to 5V voltage regulator that fits into the socket. Another option is to buy an Evergreen 586 that has 5V and it'll work without issues.

I'm not completely sure as I'm not home right now, but it is a 550watt psu from the early 2000's rated for the AMD thunderbird and xp cpu's which required more 5V current
