I love the case, it's really nice. Pretty good frame rates for Voodoo5, you can get more by messing with the LOD bias. Would like to see total scores too...

I have not had to use it too much, but as far as reading normal diskettes goes, it seems a bit faster then a standard diskette drive. Its the only one I have ever come across before, so I just had to stick it in my main Glide box. 😀

Yep nice rig, like the door effect too. I was interested in your 3dmark2001 results, as I've been running it for the first time ever. My box is similar-ish: Asus A7M266 + Athlon XP2000+ Voodoo5 MX300 98 first ed. With hardware T&L selected I get almost identical results [2514 on defaults, or 2728 …

Well, Geometry Assist is basically a enabler so that games will use the 3DNow! or SSE capabilities the cpu has to do the Hardware T&L. It works for some people fine, and others I guess not so well, and it doesn't work on every game, partly due to end of official driver support. As far as test …

Can't wait for the reviews tomorrow. New CPU launches are always an exciting event. In general I tend to never buy the very first product though. Especially interested to see how the Bulldozer 6 core (or 3 modules) compares with to the 1100T!

Dang! Not to say it performs like arse but no improvement in gaming compared with my ancient 955BE (which is faster for such useful tasks than Thuban, ehem...)? I was expecting, well frankly, more.

You mention running Quake on a k6-350. Software rendering? A k6-2 is not all that powerful for software rendering. I have run Quake on comparable K6-2 and pentium 3 systems and there is no comparison - pentium 3 is miles ahead. For software rendering the k6-2 was fine.

Athlon and P3 Coppermine/Tualatin are pretty much practical equals at similar clocks. A cheap Duron vs. Celeron/K6/P2 is much more interesting. 😁

Ya I had some friends go from K6-2 to a Duron and it was just an unreal boost for them. The performance per clock is practically a Tbird and you also have a jump in several hundred MHz from a nasty slow K6-2. It could quadruple frame rates in some 3d games.
