i used to have good impression on k5's efficiency. yeah its doing surprisingly well in 3d benchmarks including quake2/3 and 3dmark01, despite having no multimedia instructions. but the clock-to-clock lead against p54c and k6 is minimal, and comparing k5-pr200(actual 133mhz) with p54c-200 or k6-200 …

I bet the board uses 4 jumpers or 4 dip switches to set the vcore. If no jumpers (all off) are 1.8V and 1.9V is a single jumper (or dip switch on) to either the right or left side of the jumper block then moving that jumper one step twords the middle of the jumper block will give you 2.0V while …

1.8v is vid0,vid1,vid2 no jumper and vid3 12 jumpered, 1.9v is vid0,vid1,vid2 no jumper and vid3 23 jumpered. 2.5v is vid0 12, vid1 23, vid2 12 and vid3 no jumper.

Just looked at the manual and that looks way different than my SS7 boards - it is a 4x3pin header. It doesn't follow the "each jumper adds a value" logic. Are your K6+ chips rated for 2V or 1.6V?

It's 4 x 3 pin, so 4 jumpers (vid0, vid1, vid2, vid3) that can be set to off, 1 2 jumpered or 2 3 jumpered. Thanks Jeff

If you know the jumper settings for 2.2V you can use that voltage as long your cooler is good but it's not 100% risk free. Or rather it's only risk free as long as your motherboards voltage regulation is good as 2.5-2.7V is the killing voltage range for a K6-3+ even with good cooling.

Some K6-3+ were rated for 1.6V. They will all run fine at 2.0V, and 1.6V rated chips can be clocked higher when you do so, but if you plan on running them at stock speed and yours is rated for 1.6V, I'd go for 1.8V instead.

I don't know which speed these games expect. Did you try DOSBox or PCem for these games? Maybe you can use those to determine which performance level is needed for them to work. IIRC correctly your system should run run at about 386 level, probably with faster video. I wouldn't expect it to trigger …

I remember playing CD-Man on a 286 with VGA, so perhaps your system is too fast even with everything turned off/down.

Just tried patching Dark Ages with the RTE200 patch, at least two of them that I could find (PATCHCRT.EXE and TPPATCH.EXE). Unfortunately, both didn't work for me. Even went as far as decompressing the EXE files and using the TP7P5FIX.EXE TSR. No dice.
