look at 9181230.rom in this package. Not sure what the date is, but the BIOS has a mod date of 30/12/1996.

In general, I was rather unimpressed with the PC Chips M918. It might be of benefit to try some other motherboard's BIOS on this board, provided it is the same chipset. On my list is to try the Gigabyte GA-5486AL BIOS on the M918 in hope for some speed benefit.

I need an Amibios DOS flash unity that will work with this ROM files. I get an error trying to flash this bios.

I don't know - I always use an external programmer. If you don't have or don't plan to buy one, try uniflash.

Okay, I changed the bios timing setting and ram and cache scores did improve a little. I was using 5 and 4-1-1-1 for timings. I am now using 4 and 3-1-1-1 Let me try an older Winamp version. ( v2.1 ). I think the current version I am using( v2.7) maybe causing the problems.

What OS(es) are you going to be running? The ASUS and MSI use VIA chipsets, while the Gigabyte one uses an Nforce 3 Ultra chipset. Supposedly the chipset drivers for the nForce chipset are buggy on Windows 9x. People also like this board: Asrock 939 Dual SATA It has both AGP and PCIe

Also... did you clear the CMOS to clear the BIOS settings? Sounds like you tightened up the timings too much and didn't set them back to default to me.

Okay, I found the best bios settings for this CPU. Let me do some benchmarking and regression testing to confirm it’s stable.

Lock up when accessing peripherals can also be caused by too-high ISA bus speed. Try AT bus clock CLK/4 when testing whether the hardware has gone bad.

What OS(es) are you going to be running? I'll be running WinXP 32bit SP3. So I guess both nforce or VIA should be alright then? I was also considering Asrock 939 Dual SATA (or other Asrock Vista or similar) but I don't need extra PCIe slot - I have separate system just for that alone- and 2GB RAM …

For Socket 939 with AGP the best options are more or less boiled down to ABIT or ASUS boards based on VIA chipset. MSI is not good overclocker and everything else is just meh. Nforce 3 boards are more varied: Gigabyte, Epox, DFI, MSI. All have some flaws, but quite usable for Windows XP SP3.

I've got an ASUS A8V and it's fine. A period Anandtech review favors the nForce3-250 boards over the VIA K8T800 options: https://www.anandtech.com/show/1398/19. Of the VIA options, they recommended the Abit AV8 and Asus A8V Deluxe.

CLK/5 is correct at 40 MHz FSB. 2-1-1-1 may work, but it is tight. You may have luck. Perhaps you need 1 write wait state. Be patient and don't draw conclusions too early. Please report. You can save the pictures from SST478 as pcx. You can convert them to png and place them here.
