S3 gets my vote too, you need a compatible and fast 2d vga - 3d is wasted on such machine

I used an Am5x86-133 in 1997 with Win95a and didn't find it slow. I didn't use it for 3D gaming. And it seems like mp3s didn't become popular until 1998. Your right. I have a 120mm fan attached to my V3. I moved the fan so its sitting slightly off center to cool the memory chips as well. It runs rock solid at 195/195! 😎

I just bought a "Cooler Master Drive-4 fan speed controller for this case. It will control the CPU fan, Case fans and Voodoo-3 fan. It is going to look Awsome ! I am going to paint that floppy drive Bezel and bay adapter silver too so everything will match.

I have an Epox 9NDA3J Nforce 3 Ultra, and it has been a great board for over 15 years (being used regularly for about 12 of those). With a beta BIOS installed it even has support for Athlon 64 X2 processors.

Native PCI I/O does work on those chipsets. Onboard AC97/HD audio or supported cards like Sound Blaster Live! can still be natively picked up by MPXPlay and audio worked. I think HimemX works together with EMM386 and then you can use the /MAX=##### switch to limit available RAM before loading EMM386.
