Can you stack throttle with setmul? Something I have been thinking about today... given that a Via C3 on a 440bx chipset should be compatible with both, and they use different mechanism to slow the processor.

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by stack throttle. I do use the K6 and C3 as complimentary systems, using specific setmul options that apply to each one.

Throttle is slow down utility, like setmul that, that uses clock skipping. Throttle slows down the CPU in a different way than setmul does, so it might be possible to use them together to get even slower. BGC/ADZ are capable to work stable with just passive cooling (heatsink only). You can even overclock it to 160mhz.

I ran some tests recently and it looks like BGC is tiny bit faster than previous models clock to clock. It was less than 1% but consistent in multiple tests.

If the rest of the system is stable and runs at sensible speeds, why not. This is a VLB system, so you're running VLB at 50MHz. I'd do some benches to see how that works out. If it's stable, it probably beats 40MHz (which also needs 1WS), but I'd check whether it actually beats 133MHz CPU/33MHz VLB …

VLB at 40 and 50MHz with 0ws is possible. My ET4000W32P and ARK1000VL can do it. I've heard S3 86x cards can do it too, but it depends if the memory is soldered or in sockets.

Isn't faithful emulation the whole point of PCem? I mean, if you're emulating a 386, it should provide 386 levels of performance regardless of your host configuration.
