It's a good retrospective, your efforts are appreciated. Only thing is that I wouldn't compare it to a Voodoo 6000, that card is a more interesting member of its lineage.

Don't tempt me to buy the FireGL cards.. 1GB on the v8600 and 2GB on the v8650... yummy. But what would that help me anyway? Would there be a point at all to even have them when I already have faster cards for XP?

pass through could mean read through unless he read it wrong. If read through and write through are the only options id guess read through is faster but idk.

Read through would effectively mean no cache at all. 😁 I don't think it's the worst 486 ever, having similar performance per MHz as 386. 😁 (Even 486SLC and 486DLC would be faster having 1kB of cache on chip)

Did you lower the voltage??? Running at the intel mmx setting (2,8v) is not a good idea... also keep trying, one setting should yield the 4x or 4,5x setting because it's now running at 5x (333mhz).
