Funny thing: I had to set my motheboard to 2.5V in order to get K6-III+ 450MHz run. With 2.1V I was stuck at POST, with 2.3V I managed to boot to Windows, only to be welcomed by BSOD :) But I guess this was some kind of error caused by cheap and low quality PC Chips M577 motherboard , and the actual …

I have a couple of K6-2+ 550 CPUs that run happily even at 600 MHz with 2.1V vcore. 😄 To set it to 600 MHz, use the 2x multiplier setting on your board, which translates to 6x internally in the CPU.

How do you decode the 25XXX production numbers? Here are the Am486 chips I have: DX2-50 24361 DX2-66NV8T 25220 DX4-100NV8T 25253 DX4-100SV8B 25498 Any of them hit the jackpot?

The ATZ arrived and I'm running it stable with 2.0V at 550 MHz. I think is a very good overclock.

Ugh, whatever cache chips and configuration I try, it keeps saying CACHE MEMORY BAD DO NOT ENABLE CACHE. Ah well, at least I made some progress today...

I've tried the SoMI patch and kept getting divide errors. The solution I use for making these games work under MS-DOS is by using a utility called Setmul. Glad to hear it! The only situation where Setmul has given me problems is when I’m using a USB mouse in DOS using the USBMOUSE TSR.

The divide error in Indy 3 and Monkey 1 are part of the AdLib-related code. There are no other CPU speed related issues in the code that I'm aware of. If you force these games into pure PC Speaker mode by running them with the "i" parameter, the games should work perfectly fine regardless of the CPU …
