Did you try using a good ol' GeForce 2 MX or MX 400 (128 bit versions only) with driver 7.76 ? They have very low power requirements (4 - 5 watts) and work great with SS7... albeit, you can't aim for the stars with them :-) For that you probably need a GeForce 2 GTS / GeForce 3 Ti, but their power …

Thank you both for digging up the extra information. Looks like I will be trying a K6-2 in this mainboard. It appears that I am lucky to have a revision 1.0 board and that support for K6-2 CPUs was added after the date the original BIOS on my mainboard had. I hope to find out some time tomorrow …

On my Epox EP58-MVP3C-M, using that 2000 BIOS, my K6-3D 233AFR (early K6-2) does work. However, mine is a patched version from Wimsbios, to support 128GB HDDs, so I have no idea if this has also been patched to support K6-2 CPUs. I'll attach it. If this doesn't work, it might still be a hardware …

The newer bios can be patched if wanted. Just say when. the later bios mentioned on that archive link is a 2Mbit variety, I think it's for even later revisions of the MVP3C

Weird that it doesn't work with al least one of the bios revisions listed - what are the specs of the chips you did try (any pics). Maybe it's an issue with processor cores (Chomper vs Chomper XT)

Just tested GF2 MX400 with the same effect in 5MVP3. Looks like my W2K needs replacement). Just instant reboot. p.s. Voodoo 5 5500 AGP was a bit faster in VIA-based mobo by ~150 pts ))
