Was thinking about trying a 40x40mm heat sink with a thermal adhesive pad since there are no clips to mount to on a socket 3. Maybe a 5v 40mm Noctua fan? If there is something better please let me know, would like to run the chip at 160mhz.

Thermal adhesive pads are pretty much junk. You definitely want a clip-on style cooler. If you can't find something you like, you can always just get something and then use fishing line or something like that to hold it in place by running it through the fins and under the CPU. The settings for a 5x86 are on the bottom half of page 6. I can't see how to set 3.45V for the core.

Worked! Though, what i did discover is that when i switch the card from PnP to manual configuration mode, it always prevents the 386 to run no matter what the settings are. Also, diagnostics utility is always failing irq and dma tests on pentium. Seems like this card is toast on some level. (For 386 …

Update:Cpu is changed by TI 486DLC and system is now working.Check first post for screenshots. Now im sure 386DX 40 cpu is really burned by inserting wrong direction Thanks to your helps and comments 😀

Congrats! That's a nice board. I have my own 386DX based on this very same board. With AMISETUP, you can change some hidden bios values to speed the board up even more than normal. 😉 (Tightening some timings, increasing some refresh times etc)

This build will getting overhauled.. Going other components inside. Also got another case that fills my needs.. It just perfect for a 386 DX 40 Mhz build. I have some parts to choose from. And will add the best components to this build.

My gold IDE controller in my 386 works with my CDROM. The computer bios does not detect the CD-ROM drive but that’s okay. Just leave it and NONE drive in bios.
