Capturing a text mode screen to a text file would probably be the nearest cross-platform solution.

But when required, I can code a free tool for Windows which reacts on another shortcut then Ctrl+V and just does a sendkey for every char in the clipboard. I think that should work?

Die Dosbox kann auf Vista laufen -> WinXP cmd nicht 😁 (Dosbox can run on Vista -> WinXP cmd can't)

you can't. You may want to look at the keyboardlayout entry in the configuration file of dosbox.

Done, but the keymapper still refuses to cooperate. I decided to restore my old mothballed 486. I find it slightly amusing that it takes less time to restore an old mothballed computer than it takes to get an emulator to print the correct character.

I need to do this because dosbox doesn't understand non-us keyboards and the keymapper is crap. I must comment this. I think, the mapper has been implemented the best way it was possible for a platform-independent piece of software. A better keymapper GUI maybe can be realized by frontends, isn't …
