Nope, I did my research and everything, and almost all the links to diff patching utilites were dead, and then I realized that SourceForge was down (after I posted here). 😀

I really think the source files are corrupt on sourceforge. Tried on 2 computers using Archiver Utility, Stuffit, TheUnarchiver and something unix in the terminal. Can someone verify this? (the CVS seems to open great though)

Did you re-download? As there seems to have been some larger page (server?) update on sourceforge so maybe downloads were broken in some timeframe.

Because nobody else can confirm the loose of profile while updating problem, I'm preparing the release of D-Fend Reloaded 0.8 now. Version 0.8 should be on Sourceforge by tomorrow. @HunterZ: Interessting idea, I will think about this in version 0.9.
