Try this http://schierlm.users.sourceforge.net/bootdisk/ It works for.me very well. It allows you to boot from cd and has some other tools like memtest.

I think that would just encourage people to use it for other things than games. We would see more demands for things like supporting SHARE or FILES. Best to simply direct people to vDosPlus or a VM. https://sourceforge.net/p/vdosplus/discussion/
