I decided to mess around with Sheepshaver and came across this thread. It looks like only a handful of games offer something better than other ports. I grew up with Macs as a kid and felt like I was always missing out when compared to my PC friends. However I was exposed to a different set of games I probably never would have played if I had a PC like early Cyan games.

That being said a large part of my childhood Mac gaming was Lucasarts games. When I launched the games in the emulator I was surprised to see the sound was not playing smoothly and the graphics were blurry. Definitely not what I remembered from back in the day but it kind of killed the motivation to keep messing around.

You know, Mac gaming put me into retro gaming. I was searching for an emulator back in 2007 because I was curious to see how Mac games are. When I managed to run Basilisk, I felt that something is wrong and the games don't run correctly. So I got an iMac G3 in 2008 and I was impressed with the games. My favorite genre is the adventure games and Macs have a lot of them. I have finished Lucasarts The Dig three times and all of them on old Macs (iMac G3 and Macintosh Performa 6116CD) only because the graphics look better on my eyes than PC version because of the graphic smoothering filter (although many do not like it)

- Macintosh LC475, Powerbook 540c, Macintosh Performa 6116CD, Power Macintosh G3 Minitower (x2), Imac G3, Powermac G4 MDD, Powermac G5, Imac Mid 2007
- Cyrix 120
- Amiga 500, Amiga 1200
- Atari 1040 STF
- Roland MT32, CM64, CM500, SC55, SC88, Yamaha MU50

Would like to add Top Gun: Fire at Will (better FMV video quality) and Rebel Assault (nicer UI).

Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes 1: Case of the Serrated Scalpel (3DO)

- full voice
- actors cinematics instead of pictures
- text readability is worse (at least on mobygames screenshots)

Emulation away it's hard to find the best mac with a wide overall compatibility....what is your choice?
I have lot's of machines but currently only LC1 68020 512MB VRAM IIe-Card and PM6100/66 486card are in use.
There seems to be a lack 68030/68040 that cannot be fitted by the PM6100/66....

Retro-Gamer 😀 ...on different machines

I do not collect Macintosh computers, but I did add a PowerBool G4 Titanium to my collection a few years ago, just to have some representation. It's not very big and doesn't take up too much space.

I would love to have a complete Macintosh IIe and a Macintosh Color Classic, given the option, but I wouldn't know what to do with either of them. I grew up on DOS and Windows 3.1, and that's what I know.

You may check my post at page 5. I have various pictures taken with the "print screen" method on my Macintosh Performa 6116CD with a Macintosh Color Display monitor.

I started learning about Macs in 2007 where I downloaded the emulators one night. But I wanted a real machine. Now I am an owner of the following:

1. Powerbook 540c
2. Macintosh LC475
3. Macintosh Performa 6116CD
4. Power Macintosh G3 Minitower
5. Imac G3 Indigo
6. Powermac G4 MDD
7. Powermac G5

I love Macs because they have especially adventure games, my favourite genre. But also other great games like Doom 2, Dark Forces, Duke Nukem 3D, Civilization, Flashback, Prince of Persia, etc.

You should also see Goblins series and Lost In Time. Mac version of these games has very beautiful and sharp picture.

- Macintosh LC475, Powerbook 540c, Macintosh Performa 6116CD, Power Macintosh G3 Minitower (x2), Imac G3, Powermac G4 MDD, Powermac G5, Imac Mid 2007
- Cyrix 120
- Amiga 500, Amiga 1200
- Atari 1040 STF
- Roland MT32, CM64, CM500, SC55, SC88, Yamaha MU50
