Actually, the problem is Windows. ABTA only runs smoothly in it's native DOS environment. It "Hates NT" (and 9x as well). To run this properly you will need to either set up a Dual-Boot or run it through a capable emulator. Unfortunately, it does not work on DosBox as of version 0.56.

Another World also runs slow insidently, but with NO sound!!!

You might try DosBox with your present version first.
