Oooookay.

Step 1: Don't run DOS games from directories with longfilenames.
(I use C:\home\Games\DOS\[GAMENAME(8-letters-or-less)] for all my DOS games, and C:\home\Games\[GENRE]\[GAMENAME] for all my other games)

Step 2: Use the VDMSound Launchpad.

Step 3: Don't use PIFs. Use VLPs. (Launchpad, Launchpad, Launchpad!)

See if those steps don't resolve your problem.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Not to mention, if you're trying to run Duke3D and other Build-engine-based games - be sure to have installed Update 1 for VDMSound 2.0.4.
http://vdmsound.sourceforge.net/files/VDMSoun … 0.4.update1.zip

Note: All the disclaimers found in the CLI2NOP FAQ as to the efficacy of this fix apply here, too: showthread.php?threadid=31

Also don't forget to to drop your resolution to 320x200 and your audio quality to a low-level.

You're not going to get the higher-resolution levels without VESA emulation and trying to use "Build" audio at high-quality will grind gameplay to a halt.

Sounds like you are trying to run the game from a long directory. Also sounds like you have an old version of LaunchPad (1.0.0.2 -- I think the latest is 1.0.0.7).since the latest version automatically converts everything to 8.3 names (though long 8.3 paths are still a problem). This is a Windows .pif limitation, not a LaunchPad limitation BTW. Sorry.
