I'm running Windows XP and am trying to get the sound to work on Tie Fighter. I've installed VDMSound ver. 2.0.4 and removed the REM from the "REM lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe" line so that it will detect the CD in the drive. I've tried to set up the soundcard, but nothing will detect, and nothing will work when i try to set it up manually. The game will run just fine, but i cannot get any sound......none.......and i am looking for some help. please keep in mind that i'm a noob when it comes to this kind of thing, and it took me about 2 days to figure out that i had to edit the AUTOEXEC file for VDMSound to get the CD to detect.......HELP!!!!! 😢 😢

Auto Detect wouldn't work

Run Tieauto.exe with VMDSound

Then when you start it up, click on install, and then Setup Sound Card

Do Custom by pressing "C" on your keyboard

Then under sound card, select "Sound Blaster Pro"

Then Port 220

IRQ 7

DMA Channel 1

Reverse Stereo 0

Do not use Detect, it doesn't work

If you use test now, both music and digital sound should work.
