Actually, I was going to call you a complete idiot and point out how crappy Opera is compared to Mozilla, but then I looked at PPK's CSS2 compatibility table and wow, 42.5/45 points for CSS2 compatibility. I'm impressed. I wonder how Mozilla 1.3a's CSS support is (I think PPK works only off of full versions). Hmm...
That said, it still looks like Mozilla has much better DOM support. I'm not sure about HTML or XHTML or DHTML, but the site I linked to (PPK) seems to have everything.

And oh, yeah, (;)) nice job finding that ...but without any kind of source and considering that that site doesn't work anymore and that it sounds like it didn't really do much (and only on Gravis UltraSound cars) I'm not sure how worthwhile it is to pursue it.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Opera7 featurelist:

As for Mozilla being much better at compatibility; I don't know dude. The version of opera 7 tested at http://www.xs4all.nl/~ppk/ is the 07Beta 2, not the final version.

Anyway, I don't care if it turns out that mozilla has better support for languages, have you tried out O7? SPEEEEEEEED! =)

It takes way to long time to open a window in mozilla and 07 shows everything i've feeded it so far perfectly(had it for 3 days)
The customazibility is damn good & easy too!
I've found my perfect browser =)

Anyway, the link didn't work for you? Worked for me, I can upload the file another place if you want me too.

MEGA-EM requires an Advanced Gravis soundcard. It is a bit more like a "wrapper" and not an emulator (at least, the term "emulator" as we here know it).

It's doubtful that if you had a Gravis UltraSound running in Windows XP (it's possible) that MEGA-EM would work properly, if at all.

Even so, it would not be a "true" low-level emulation of the Roland, and would not support its advanced synth features. As Vlad said, it's doubtful that it would be better than the current Roland sample set VDMSound uses. (although that's technically comparing apples to oranges).

Just looking at the size and it doesn't look to do much better than VDMSound's "mapping". Must have at least 512kB of samples.

You're talking about that crappy half-megabyte MT32 soundfont? Yeah it sounds pretty bad, even compared to a slightly bigger soundfont with VDMS MT32->GM mapping.

I have a question though - does VDMSound's mapping scale the volume of the instruments as well? It sounds like they might differ between the MT-32 and the General MIDI specification. Could just be a quirk resulting from the GM/GS soundfont I'm using though...

No volume, balance or drum mapping. Actually I haven't even checked if VDMSound filters the drum channel (in order not to wrongfully map the drumsets). Very low-effort. 😀
