Sorry that I start a new thread about this topic because I can't find the latest version of VDM-Sound-Win98.
I tried 2 versions until now, the very first version and another.
But both with some bugs. 😒
For example the 1st version seemed to be to use the Midi port still after closing VDMsound98 (not able to start other sound files after using VDMsound98).
In the 2nd version there the sound worked not at all (only sreeching shrieks to hear).
But nevertheless I have found a way to avoid the "Tip of the day"-error in the Win98SE-registry...
Could someone plese tell me where to get the newest version of VDMSound98?

I might be completely wrong but i think VDMSound for Win9x platform is still at a very low stage of development (alpha).

Hello,

If MIDI remains "in use" then try "vxdboom" and/or a newer driver for your soundcard. VDMSound releases all resources when it unloads (vxdboom should unload it), and good sound drivers allow multpile applications to use the card at the same time (and Microsoft's soft-synth goes through DirectSound, i.e. everything is mixed, no "exclusive" use of the device - funny it goes mute.)
