The launch pad fails to create the temporary shortcut to
c:\disque_d\jeux\aventure\little big adventure\little big adventure\lba.exe
Changing both 'little big adventure' to 'lba' solved the problem.

I'm not certain that's Launchpad, as there are other things that exhibit the same behaviour.
Yes, it’s my fault.
That should have been fixed in LaunchPad 1.0.0.7 (all filenames are converted to 8.3). Unless, that is, you are using NTFS and chose to disable 8.3 (DOS) filename support. To check, simply type the following at a command prompt:
dir /x "c:\disque_d\jeux\aventure\little*"
...and you should see something like:
xx-xx-xxxx xx:xxx <DIR> LITTLE~1 little big adventure
What's important to see there is the "LITTLE~1" entry. If it isn't there than LaunchPad can't do anything about it. If it is and you are using LaunchPad 1.0.0.7 (version is in "Advanced properties" in the bottom left corner for 1.0.0.7) then I'll have to take another look at the code.

Ok, I went to dos prompt and tried it, no 8.3 support it seems, although I tried on a fat32 partition. I also got those problems with launchpad (not able to find the .pif), any suggestions how to activate 8.3-support?
Problem fixed (worked around) in LaunchPad 1.0.0.9 (not yet uploaded to http://vdmsound.sourceforge.net/files/ yet).

Vlad. Perfect time for UNIFICATION.
Do it.
Do it now.
Do it now or I'll rip your eyeballs out and feed them to my pirahnas.

Vlad. If you receive an email attachment named rippinghands.zip ...DON'T open it.
Actually, rippinghands.zip wouldn't be a problem. rippinghands.zip.vbs, on the other hand...😉;)
