First I tried to play the game without Glidos. It says Unable to setup DirectDraw - please check that DirectX is installed. Then I tried Glidos. Got the same error.
Then I downloaded carmav.exe. Now if I start the Carmageddon through Glidos using either carmav.exe or 3dfx.exe I get NTVDM.EXE has stopped working.
After that I downloaded DosBox version from Glidos site. When I run it through Glidos + DosBox it works. It works, but without sound and it asks for a CD if I try to start a new game.
I need some help here, because I won't get it working on my own.

Have you tried both of these:

http://download.glidos.net/Carmageddon/3DfxCarm.zip

http://download.glidos.net/Carmageddon/carv24rw.zip

I believe on of them doesn't request the CD.

The lack of sound is likely to be config. Try running SNDSETUP.EXE under DOSBOX

The one in the second link is already installed. I tried to install the patch from the first link. Due to Vista I had to run the patch through DosBox. So, I run the patch, select C drive and path to my Carmageddon directory, but it says "Carmageddon not found: Select drive and path."

Edit: Nevermind, I managed to install it after putting the file in C:\

Edit2: The game runs extremely slow. Unplayable. Is it due to DosBox?

Still can't fix the low fps. Any help with that? My system specs if you need them:

DualCore AMD Athlon X2 QL-62, 2000 MHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 3450 256MB
Windows Vista Home Premium with service pack 1

And by the way I'm trying to run the game in Open GL mode. Direct 3d mode brings a black screen with a little square on top left where I can see a bit of carmageddon.
