If anyone's interested, I've been doing some extensive tests under WinXP for Screamer2, and I've solved the No CD problem by using Diskjuggler to make an image of the CD, and DAEMON Tools to mount the image.
Just install from the mounted image and it runs a treat.

But it's very slow under any GliDOS settings.
I have used FRAPS to show the exact FPS when GliDOS games are running, represented by the yellow Number at the top

Last one, and that should be all the locked tracks now visible.

Name: Screamer2
Executable: F:\s2\s2_3dfx.exe
DosGraphics: Yes
ControlJudderFix: 1
Resolution: 3
FullScreen: No
ForcedTextureSmoothing: Yes

I don't know if Paul has any ideas of the slow down, I have tried all sorts of things including fullscreen, and various Judder numbers

Looks lovely, except those yellow numbers are a bit disappointing.

Any messages in the Glidos server window in all caps? I get Glidos to display the names of Glide commands that it is asked
to perform but doesn't support. When there are a lot of them they can take longer to display than the actual graphics.

There looks to be a lot of wriiting directly to the frame buffer. That can slow things down too.

Is there a 3dfx demo I can download to try?

Paul,

This is what the server says when it's running.

Resolution = 640x480
Refresh rate = 60Hz
Color format = ARGB
Number of color buffers = 2
Number of aux buffers = 0

Is there any other way of getting the server to report info ?

Despite the speed, it does look good though.

I don't think you'll find a demo anywhere, but in the UK it's on sale as a cheap budget title, so I don't know if it's worth checking out where you live to see if you can get it anywhere.
If I see it cheap online I'll give you a shout.

That's a shame; not producing piles of messages then. If that had been the cause of the slowness, it would have been easy to cure.

I have a plan to speed up Glidos for all games, but its quite a big change, and will affect only Windows NT, 2000 and XP.

Still, I might be able to speed this one up with some quick fix.

I think you are right about video emulation.
I think somewhere there is too much frame buffer instructions going on, as the sound is perfect and doesn't slow down with the video emulation.

It's a damn shame I can't rush you a demo or something
