I've got Grand Theft Auto working. It'll be a while before I release the new version of Glidos, but its on its way.

I thought it was a windows based game ?

Oh well, nice work, Paul.

Good to see you've been finally allowed to do something other than Red Baron.

Could the Screamer games be next ? 😀

GTA has a windows and Dos version, but it is the usual strange situation that only the Dos version has Glide support.

'fraid the Red Baron work isn't quite done. I think I know how to do the alpha plus palette textures now and completely remove the frame rate hit associated with sun glare.

I'm interested in Screamer. I might need to take you up on an offer you once made. I've also got copies of "EF2000 v2.02" and "Dreams to Reality" ordered.

Just let me know, and I'll help you out on the screamer games.

I'm trying to hunt down the EF2000 updates, myself. But in the UK old games are extremely hard to find.
I have EF2000, but not the update.
And whats "Dreams to Reality" ?
Was this another DOS glide game ?

Was there a 3dfx version of the original "Screamer"? Only knew about the patch for the other two.

But in the UK old games are extremely hard to find.

Don't forget about the tendency of games to change names when they cross the ocean.

I have EF2000, but not the update.

By updates, do you mean patches? Or the re-releases?

Number of versions out there:

You might want to bookmark MobyGames, as they are the closest thing to a universal computer/console game database.

Wow! I thought from the what I had heard it might be a pretty looking game. Think it might push Glidos a bit hard, although probably no worse than Redguard.

Interesting... so who are you?

Unfortunately, it was only the other two. Although I would of loved a Screamer 3dfx patch. Shame it didn't go open source.

Yep, just patches. I also have the 3dfx patch, gfxplus.zip. But thats only for the other full CD update.

And after looking at the screenshots of "Dreams To Reality", I now remember.
But the actual in-game shots don't look accelerated, or at least look as if there is no bilinear filtering.

Yeah, I'm mentioned in your VOGONS news of the week. Or something. 😀 Anyhow, now you know where I'm studying computer science at. Oh, no - I've said too much! 😀

I generally find it hard to learn when I'm in a computer lab. In the classroom, I'm fine. Go figure.

- Hell, if you guys had bothered looking, you would have found this all out long ago. You'd also have my name to boot, and from there... but I digress.

Anyhow, Paul, some of those shots strike me as promotional images from Cryo and/or stills from FMV. (Hope your VESA support is improving...) But I've never played the game, and that could just be me.

Anyhow, here's how I found that stuff:
Google Image Search!
http://images.google.com/images?q=(%22Dreams+To+Reality%22+OR+%22DreamsToReality%22+OR+%22Dreams+2+Reality%22+OR+%22Dreams2Reality%22)&svnum=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&output=search&filter=0

And search for likely screenshots of photos of the box cover...
Box cover on page 1
Screenshots on page 3, 4,
Another box cover and screenshots (smaller) on page 17, 18, 19. Note that Google Image Search prioritizes by image size, too... And I now that using this, I found the name of the publisher, Cryo, now I could do this:

http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr … %22%29&filter=0

And now you can use that to look for walkthroughs, cheats, patches, reviews, etc. For example, here's a walkthrough:
http://www.thecomputershow.com/computershow/w … realitywalk.htm

And here's some cheats:
http://www.cheaty.sk/?p=cheaty_zobraz&ID=1261

Yeah, go for that "Girl Power" mod... 😀

Actually, that's a well-done site. http://www.cheaty.sk/?p=hry_zobraz&ID=1261
They have scanned images of the CD inserts too, if you found an ISO of this game somewhere and want to make a case for it. It seems to have a better walkthrough, too - but good luck if you don't read Slovenian... (InterTran helps, but not quite: http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate)

BTW, Here's some more great images (a bit small)
http://www.dice.nl/games/dreamstoreality_games.html

- back to work... *sigh*

I'm confused, Stiletto. Why not use your regular username instead of being an un-named, err, dude? I mean, come on. Either post with your real username or don't post, y'know? Koz, posting was the problem, not the username. 😜

Yes, it’s my fault.

He might have a memory like mine, and when he goes to a browser that doesn't have the cookies already, he can't remember the password... no that's probably only me. 😁

Just reset your password every time. 😉 Or, alternately, use a password you can REMEMBER. heh

I'm special. I've memorised two completely random 12-character alphanumeric passwords. RaR! I R T3H L33TZ0R!

Yes, it’s my fault.

It's faster when I need to pop in quick. But like I said, I didn't plan on popping in, and I should start slacking off in popping in soon. 😀

Heh, alrightie then.

Getting back to GTA, I'm confused as to exactly how the video improves with Glide..? FWIW, I didn't exactly see a difference between 1600x1200 software mode and 1600x1200 Glide mode, and that was when I *had* a Voodoo^2. (Yes, Voodoo squared. Not Voodoo 2. Read history books. It's also nVidia, not NVIDIA. Seriously. Little n in their logo, little n in their old docs, little n. little idia. Looks better that way. NVIDIA. Bah. That looks so cheap. And of course, the kicker, ATi. Not ATI. Thank you. That is all.)

Yes, it’s my fault.

heh, it's NEVER a waste of time, Paul! Each new game supported can mean that there are fewer problems occuring later on down the road. Of course, it can also mean there are more (nasty hacks are Bad Things(tm)) But that's another road for another day, or something. Besides, Mozilla is acting really strangely on this post. heh...ignore that last comment.

Yes, it’s my fault.
