I don't think its the cli2nop thing because it seems to be related to file reading, and not particularly asynchronous interrupts. It could be int 13h because that is at least to do with disc access, but I don't know why a game would use that low level, and I don't know why W2K isn't giving us a warning.

would int 13h mean blood is trying to access the cd tracks and movies or the hard drive?

Ooo! That's an idea. It would make sense to use int 13h to read audio tracks rather than telling the CD drive to play them, maybe. The video should be in files, and reqading those with int 13h would be more awkward than using the usual file reading interfaces.

Interesting thought.

The movies in BLOOD are SMACKER (.SMK) video files the INI file defines how they are played. In this case they are silent video played along with .WAV files.

From the BLOOD.INI file:
[Episode1]
CutSceneA=H:\MOVIE\CS1.SMK
CutWavA=H:\MOVIE\CS1822M.WAV
CutSceneB=H:\MOVIE\CS2.SMK
CutWavB=H:\MOVIE\CS2822M.WAV

The strange part is, (IIRC) the same video files are available with synchronized sound built-in. Don't know why they used separate files for playback "in-game".

Thought this might be useful, maybe not.

I agree - probably not helpful.
