Maybe not the right place but: grSstWinOpen

Postby Carrera » 2005-6-27 @ 15:15

Hi Folks,
My MechWarrior games always quit with the above error. Or rather below:
grSstWinOpen Cannot Initiate Window
or something like that.
I saw in these forums you know what this command does and wondered if it could help even though these are Win95 games.
Just curious..
Thanks

grSstWinOpen is the command that actually starts Glide. If it fails, there are several possible reasons:
- you do not actually have a card that works with your Glide driver (e.g. using the original 3Dfx Glide driver without a 3Dfx card) and the game doesn't properly check for this
- a programming bug (very unlikely at this stage)
- the game attempts to access functionality not supported on your card (e.g. attempting to open a graphics mode requiring more memory than your card has available).

Intereseting. I have Dual VOodoo2s in SLI using KoolSmoky's drivers. They seem to be fine otherwise but not on these games.
I can get Interstate 76 to run by reducing the sound card accelaration but not the Titanium or 3dfx versions of these games....
Might be time to dual boot to Windows 98...
Thanks for the input!
