Long-time lurker, irregular poster here. I was told in no uncertain terms to start blatantly advertising my content. I hate shilling my own wares but here goes!
GET OFF MY LAWN: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCj_mkYyeGIb9MPSdb74ykA
What is it?
GET OFF MY LAWN is a PC gaming channel devoted to titles from the past. I mostly cover stuff from 1979-1999, though there are exceptions.
Why bother?
There are plenty of hardware-focused PC channels, but not as many PC-specific retro gaming channels. Those that do exist tend to do fully informed playthroughs or reviews of games, or just stick to game footage without commentary. I focus on everything else. Lists, opinion pieces, blind playthroughs, and discussions.
What makes you different from the hundreds of other retro channels?
Aside from the relentless upload schedule (4-7 videos per week, every week) and my own suspect personality on top, I do a huge variety of different shows. In Random DOS Game Show I pick a game at random and play it blind with a 20 minute time limit. In addition to scripted opinion pieces there's also unscripted off-the-cuff green screen discussions about games and mods I just fancied talking about. For every hundred DOS games I play there's a Top 25 of titles I think are really cool, and a pile of other random lists and countdowns. There's also a series where I force someone who isn't a gamer to play DOS FPS games from the early 90s, she's about to hit Doom next so that's fun.
Why are you advertising here?
I'm already subscribed to the likes of Kris and Phil who regularly post here anyway, so I figured I'd join in. I've gone a year and a half now without any type of advertisement whatsoever aside from setting up basic social media feeds. My subscriber base is entirely organic and I'm very proud of doing it the old-fashioned way. It was time to 'go wide' though, now that the growth is beginning to snowball.
So yeah, if for some reason your subscriptions weren't already overflowing with retro content and you needed even more... here you go!
GET OFF MY LAWN - Yet another retro PC game review channel.
