HO-LEE-SHIT

I was already full-bar when I started looking at the page, but then:

"We heard you like it old school - so now you've got the option to play with all the original ROTT 95 sounds and music or you experience the original soundndtrack completely reforged in the fires of heavy metal! The choice is yours."

Excuse me, I need new pants.

Ludicrous gibs!!

I wonder how the pricing will be. I'm guessing at the USD 19.99 range?

And I would prefer to get it from GOG.com rather than Steam. But this wish seems to be too far-fetched.

ROTT was not so great. "Blocky" maps and graphics (compared to Doom) and the level design was not so good.

But it has some of the crazier and funnier multiplayer modes that I have seen in FPSs. I wonder why they weren't copied to modern games like Quake 3 or Unreal.

I have traveled across the universe and through the years to find Her.
Sometimes going all the way is just a start...

I'm selling some stuff!

What engine is it using ? Maybe I am a bit stupid, but of what I can see. The engine reminds me of either Quake 3 or some Unreal engine, but no matter what: It does look pretty fucking nice 😀

This remake looks very promising in my eyes. It got the ROTT feeling and the guys developing it appear to know what they are doing.

I dislike the use of apogee's name as it's isn't any of the same people, I don't think it is any of the 3d realms people either. Bad time for 3D realms to eat it too not only a few years later was KS getting successful.

George Broussard and Scott Miller of 3D Realms (who have both been there since the original Apogee days) helped to set it up. It's as close to the real deal as I think we'll ever get.

The current incarnation of Apogee holds all the rights to the Apogee catalogue, meaning they can facilitate getting their games on to GOG and whatnot. Plus, they can licence their IP so that stuff like the ROTT remake can be made.

And judging by how awesome ROTT is looking, I think they're doing a good job at keeping it faithful.

If they play their cards right right they could re open as 1 studio, both 3D realm and Apogee but, i bet they'd choose a new name.
